Schematic and detailed design for process and mechanical systems
Primary project responsibilities included schematic and detailed design including process and mechanical systems to convert an existing warehouse into a cGMP space for solvent based oligonucleotide manufacturing. Space improvements included utility, process, cleanroom, walk-in cold room, and analytical support lab areas. APECS provided direct process and utility design and managed design subcontractors including electrical, architectural, and structural. APECS provided building permit support with the City of Boulder to expedite construction activities.
Design included elements for future scalability from 50-900 mmole batch size and included synthesis, deprotection, chromatography, ultrafiltration, and lyophilization. Utilities included high purity water, clean-in-place systems (CIP), solvent delivery, bulk gas delivery, hot and cold heat transfer skids, bulk gas delivery systems, and wastewater treatment.
